Holy
Cross Roman Catholic Church located in Springfield,
PA presents a challenging acoustic environment
for sound system design with its marble
walls, floor, and hard ceiling. Coverage
of the congregational seating was achieved
with a design of delayed banks of loudspeakers
operating at moderate levels which delivers
direct sound to specific areas without splashing
sound thought the rest of the room.
Community Solution Series loudspeakers and
a Shure P4800 digital controller were chosen
to provide ease of use and freedom from
feedback.
Six loudspeaker zones were employed to ensure
even coverage, 3 Community SLS-960 loudspeakers
serve as the front mains suspended from
the ceiling near the chancel, Radian coaxial
loudspeakers are delayed sequentially and
provide coverage beneath the existing chandelier
features, and the main balcony has Community
loudspeakers specifically designed for wide
and shallow coverage to provide speech clarity
in the balcony. JBL ceiling loudspeakers
are served by an additional delay zone under
the balcony. The result is good, even, high
fidelity coverage and intelligibility. |
