School gymnasiums pose a specific challenge when it comes to sound design:  they’re used for a wide range of purposes, from sports to graduation ceremonies, all with distinct audio needs.

Knowing Clear Sound’s reputation for tricky installations, The Haverford School came to us for a new audio system in their unusually reverberant double gymnasium.  An added challenge?  The installation had to be complete in time for graduation – just two weeks away.

Clear Sound rose to the challenge by collaborating with engineers at Community Professional Loudspeakers to provide even sound coverage and high intelligibility under a variety of conditions.  The resulting system consisted of thirty-two compact loudspeakers arranged in a grid.  The grid was designed in zones, so that specific sections of the gym could be muted depending on the location of the stage and spectators.

The system was installed in time for commencement, and Clear Sound’s Installation Manager personally provided technical service to ensure flawless performance during the year-end ceremony.
